The Great Awakening 2011
The Gospel ... is the power of God unto salvation.

The Church of Jesus Christ has done a good job for many years of practicing the Great Commandment to love our neighbor. We have fed the hungry, clothed the naked, and housed the homeless. Of course, we can always do a better job. And yet, for decades, we have seen a decline in church attendance in almost every county in America.
But this is a new season, and a new impartation is being released to practice the Great Commission: "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." Here in Oregon we have begun to see the glimpses of a new move of God. Check out the >> Awakening video << with background from Pastor Denny Cline of Albany, Oregon. The first 5 minutes will explain the recent roots of this new soul winning movement in Oregon.
In our local communities of Milwaukie, Clackamas, Gladstone, and SE Portland, there have been more than 3200 people accept Christ as Savior in the last 7 months. Through the work of Operation Liberty Oregon (OLO) and the leadership of Destiny Christian Fellowship (DCF), these amazing results have been accomplished. DCF has taken the lead in our community in training and sending out soul winners who, since Easter of this year, has seen hundreds come to Christ on the streets.
DCF has also birthed OLO and released a staff evangelist to establish weekly training and sending out soul winners who, on a daily basis, are seeing people accept Jesus as Savior throughout the Portland area. They have invited others for training, which takes place Saturdays at 10:00 AM. See the OLO website link above for more information. In the near future, we will be hosting training sessions at New Life. Stay tuned.
At New Life Christan Center, we have been fervently praying for months for more of God and believing for breakthroughs in our community. We also believe in partnerships. Having been impacted by Tim Taylor of Watchman Ministries earlier this year, and walking in relationship with this ministry, our focus towards "prayer first" has been reestablished. Also, working closely with Destiny Christian Fellowship, and receiving training by a staff evangelist and his team, we are seeing soul winners being raised up to go out and do the work of evangelism. Here are a few updates!

Update 11/6/2011: After a few weeks of soul winning on the streets in our community, and doing our best to follow up, the first unchurched family came to our service this morning. Welcome William and Tara! I have some breaking news: The harvest is ripe! Jesus said: "Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." [John 4:35].
11/2/2011: Today 7 people prayed to receive Christ at a local shopping center, including 2 ladies who recently arrived here from China. This happened in about an hour through the work of 2 of our evangelists, who, while on the streets, were backed up in prayer. Also, another gentleman accepted Jesus today, who came to our church to service some equipment. And, last Saturday, 10/29, we saw 5 people pray to receive Christ at another local shopping center. Prayer and follow up is being done.
10/27/2011: Two exciting testimonies: 1) A lady was very excited to receive Jesus during our Oct. 22 city wide marathon, and after praying the sinner's prayer, she asked the ladies she prayed with if she could talk to God now. They assured her she could. She went on to say that she was a doctor from Thailand and on vacation and was excited she had received Christ and could not wait to talk Jesus back to Thailand with her. 2) One of our "evangelists" from New Life prayed with a young man while on a bus. About a month later, he saw the same young man, who preceded to tell him he had been attending a local church in his town every Sunday since praying the sinner's prayer on his bus ride. "The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation." Romans 1:16.
10/23/2011: The Soul Winning Marathon has just been completed. With 23 churches participating, and 107 "evangelists" on the streets with 48 intercessors back at the school storming heaven on our behalf, in 4 hours yesterday, we saw: 22 healings, 24 Holy Spirit baptisms, and 530 people pray to receive Christ on the streets of our city. Prior to this Saturday event, there have been 2,944 people accept Christ on the streets of our city. This one day marathon brings the new total to almost 3,500 people. We believe this is just the beginning of a soul winning movement in our city!
8/31/2011: Pastor Joel Hjertstedt reports Operation Liberty has now seen more than 2,000 souls receive Christ on the streets in our community since the end of April. Also, we are slowly building a team of evangelists here at New Life. Come and join us!
